THE STARTERS
GLXY ~ Galaxy Digital
So far so very good. Galaxy Digital is the alpha dog of the DTM5. It’s big, it’s volatile, it’s rapidly evolving and moving at a relentless pace. What a beast! It is fascinating to study, and there is a LOT going on in this company. I’m thinking that their Q3 will be a BIG one.
ETHC – Ether Capital Corporation
And here we have the quiet Canadian company which owns a pile of Ether (ETH) and a little bit of Maker (MKR). It is basically an Ether ETF….which is AOK by me as I’m a believer in the Ethereum Ecosystem.
I own this as a proxy for a direct ETH investment. It has some potential if it starts to diversify into staking or other projects / protocols. And yes I’m continuing buying this one as well. I’m happy to be averaging into this over a longer time frame. 5 and 10 years from now my contention is that ETH will be worth MUCH more than it is right now. Hey, things could change. But I’m long and strong right now.
QCCU – Quebec Copper and Gold
As you may notice, I like investing in earlier stage companies that are focused on assets that have great long term growth potential. For QCCU, the assets are Copper and Gold with a Uranium Kicker.
As I noted in a recent update, I’m not a Junior Resource Gold Explorer Kinda investor. But, I do know opportunity when I see it….. and I think QCCU offers a very attractive risk / reward profile, for reasons I first noted in my post on February 12. https://dtm5.com/2021/02/12/bear-hunting-with-qc-copper-and-gold/
And here is my Cadbury’s secret about QCCU…..I don’t view it as a copper play. Or a gold story. I view it as an engineering play. If it proves up (by re-engineering the economics) the resource base in its flagship properties, then leverages that by engineering in the saddle zone between the two…..Whoa Nelly.
I’ve owned QCCU once, traded completely out of it at a modest profit, and am now building a bigger, longer term position at a sharper price further down the plan’s timeline. Small, illiquid, unknown with a dreamer CEO who dares to shoot for the stars, and an actual strategic vision that may work?….my kinda company!
ORX – Orefinders Resources
For a guy who isn’t into Junior Resource Gold Explorer kinda companies, I’m sure spending a lot of time thinking about them.
I’m keen on Orefinders (again). Yup, owned it once, traded it, and now I’m back building a position. For the reasons mentioned in my update on April 24th, I think ORX has been de-risked. And now, it’s been de-priced, trading in the 6 cent range.
I don’t think there is the upside here that we may see in QCCU….but a 15 million dollar market cap, sitting on top of some solid looking properties, with partner Kirkland Lake footing the exploration costs, the risk / reward looks very attractive.
RCG – RF Capital Group
RCG is almost a pure Market performance play, a wealth management / brokerage company that has been restructured and reinvented. I’ve followed it a long time, so like a utility player, I’m comfortable with the risk and potential from this point forward.
This one remains an investment in a business being built. Not as much leverage (although there is some in the context of it being an acquisition target as discussed in the update I posted on March 16)
THE BENCH
SII – Sprott Inc
Old faithful SII is still on the team, offering tons of exposure to gold, silver, uranium prices.
SLHG – Skylight Health Group
Its early days for this Canadian consolidator of US primary health care practices. Solid business model; Sharp management; compelling economics. I’m slowly continuing to build a position.
QIPT – Quipt Home Medical Corp.
Another consolidator of medical equipment rental and sales businesses. Lots to like about their long term strategy and how they are executing. This is a one brick at a time type build out. So far, so good!
